Halfpaw's destiny

Born in a cold Leaf-fall morning, protected by the sturdy walls of a hollow tree nested with moss, prey fur and the warm love of his parents. But someone is calling... Is calling, and finally he can see it."Halfpaw? Halfpaw, is it you?""...Yes. What do you need?"The thing on the on the other side looks at him with a cruel smirk."What kind of name is Halfpaw..!? Are you half of a cat, perhaps? And maybe, since you come from those cats up in the trees... the reason is that you're half-squirrel!"Halfpaw's angry and confused, but smart enough not to let his rage out. He doesn't know the exact reason, but he'd always presumed that his weird breed and odd colors were the most likely reason."Ha-ha... Who has ever seen a gray cat with orange patches? You're a joke, Halfpaw."It keeps mocking him, and Halfpaw is forced to close his eyes to block it out, even for a half."You'll never know your name's real reason, because you -'bn-'bnd..abnd... em..."The line is fuzzy, disturbed.
Then, it falls.

The Story

TraitsPersonality
BraveEven against an insecurity towards himself and the world around him, in dangerous and needy situations he doesn't hesitate to become a fierce combatant to protect the weakest ones. Despite that, he's not a reckless cat and always reflects before jumping into action (if the moment allows it).
Loyal, devotedHis loyalty toward Thunderclan has become instantly unwavering the day he set foot in it. He's always ready to put his clan before himself, and a part of his devotion comes from the roots of his parents. Moreover, his devotion to Starclan grew stronger by the day he became a real clan cat.
Kind, empatheticHe shows endlessly kindness and understanding, from the littlest creature to hunt, to a clanmate in need, to the enemy of another clan. He learned from his father great compassion and a rejection towards cruelty.
Altruistic, protectiveHe's willing to put others' needs before his own. After living in a small family full of love and trust, he couldn't not grow up into a gentle cat who cares deeply for others and would put his life in danger for his loved ones.
Sociable, friendlyHis sociable nature help him to make friends easily, and his open nature prevents him from having prejudices against anyone. He loves spending time with others in his daily duties and free time, although the situation in the past moons has prevented him from having close relationships, even with his mentor.
InsecureDespite his bravery, he often harbors insecurities about his abilities. Despite that, this trait luckily still drives him to continuously improve, hoping one day to get over his insecurities and stop feeling so different from his other clanmates.
DeterminedHe strives to be always more determined than before, and never stops wishing for a better way to do things, or to be at all. He's not scared of hard work and is particularly good at learning from his mistakes.
Realiable, steadyIf the clan trusted him more, they would soon discover that Halfpaw is extremely trustworthy, always ready to help others and help the clan grow in different ways. But Halfpaw is now ready to prove himself, and will do his best for it.

The Star-Seeker Wanderer

When Halfpaw, named by his parents to honor their former home's traditions, received a particular dream, he questioned his whole role in the life he'd had until that moment.
Maybe he had a greater destiny than what he'd believed until now.
Halfpaw had no doubt about the existence and the visit of the spirit cat that spoke to him: because his parents had educated him as if they three were still part of a clan, or maybe even a small clan themselves.Halfpaw explained this cryptic dream to his parents, knowing they would acknowledge his same beliefs and help him to take action.
They looked at each other, intertwined their tails and blinked in a silent agreement, touching foreheads with one another.
The next morning at sunset, Halfpaw looked at his parents for the last time and turned his back on them, hiding the golden tears streaming down his cheeks.Because the cats who fought valiantly for so many moons in Thunderclan had educated him as a clan cat would do, he couldn't reject a call from Starclan itself.
Flameheart and Sootfur bid their last goodbye, leaving their last kit in Starclan's (and Thunderclan's) paws.
The journey was hard, but not as long as expected. Halfpaw was welcomed with some hardships but was soon given his first mentor, Skylark.Unfortunately, Halfpaw had stepped in during the worst time: Riverclan was conspiring against Thunderclan at that time, for their land and prey had been poisoned by a particular toxic herb.
Water Hemlock.
Halfpaw was one of the last victims, but managed to survive because he hadn't ingested as much toxin as some others had.
However, Riverclan's gesture had cursed the young apprentice.
Convulsions, drooling and respiratory difficulties went on for days. After the worst had passed, Halfpaw was left with long-lasting symptoms due to damage to several organs.
He suffered a gradual muscle degeneration, that luckily left him with basic abilities of walking, crouching and stretching, but made him all the weaker until apprentices younger than him became stronger in comparison.
Rehabilitation was hard, and for nearly three months Halfpaw wasn't able to recover enough to train again. Was it thanks to Springlight's abilities or for Starclan's blessing, Halfpaw was at a certain point able again to train like other apprentices. But his former strength never came back. This wasn't the only test Halfpaw was put on from the day he entered the clan walls. Rumors about the abandonment and treachery of his parents kept running in the clan, and Halfpaw was never seen under a good eye. Luckily, thanks to Bumblestar he never lacked warriors for his short training period. What is it my goal here? Why did you ask me to come, if nobody wants me here? He would ask Silverpelt each night, far away from his clanmates. He prayed for his parents to be fine.
But he couldn't avoid asking himself whether he had made truly the right choice.

A young male kit was sitting on a patch of dry grass, staring into the sky known as Silverpelt.
His coat was almost hidden by the darkness of the night, if it were not that the starlight made it shimmer slightly. It was reflected in his emerald eyes.
"...Are you there?"
...Can you hear me?
...
"Dad, why aren't they responding? You said they are watching us... But I can only feel silence and solitude. What if... What if they're angry with us? Because you left?...""My son... We may not live in Thunderclan anymore, but our ancestors will never abandon us.
Starclan works.. in a way that no cats can comprehend. But we are here, honoring them every night."
"...It's called faith, little one."The gray tom then raised his head to the sky, and a thousand memories flooded in his mind as if Starclan was gifting him a way to live his long lost life again. He curled his tail around his kit, and there they sat, watching the beautiful constellations that, they were sure, were the majestic warriors of the four clans.

Wingnettle

  • Hi! I'm a vet student with a great passion for felines! Yes, my studies take a lot of time, but I'm truly good at organizing my duties and respect my responsibilities.

  • Ooh right, I'm also an artist! Yes, I know you knew that. I would love to pass on the creativity trait to Halfpaw but I still need to figure out how.

  • I love communicating with you all, plotting and building each clan with care and dedication. I'll always be there to help people, characters and stories grow in a positive and interesting way.

  • I am super determined to develop my character and help the clan grow altogether. I want to connect those roleplayers out there! Build relationships! Give our users more prompts to help them write even better by the day!

  • Yeah, I know you know this is basically the thousandth medicine cat application that I've done. The thing is... This time, I was just really dying to make a good application, ahah. It's been very enjoyable and I loved working on the comic.

  • I would be totally (and maybe overly) confident in EVERY type of medical stuff. Really. You can dig everywhere, and you won't find something I'd reject. I can watch oozing pus with my eyes and still live to tell this story.

  • I've been on WCO for two years more or less and I won't lie - I've always been curious about the life of a high rank. It would be... Yeah, a nice challenge. A character can give their human hope and much more, you know that?

  • I'm very sure that, despite everything, I could pull myself together through illness and stress, always ready to make some time for WCO at the end of the day. I may even create a schedule, and I already have many interesting ideas that could lead Halfpaw to learn completely new things; both about herbs and the functioning of a cat's body.

  • Why Halfpaw? Why not someone more authoritative and ready to amputate some bloody infected legs??? Well... Because this guy is mostly an empathetic kitty. His determination and faith brought him back to his roots, and he won't stop here. Halfpaw's determination into growing a strong warrior grows by the day, despite all the challenges he faced and still faces everyday. This is a warrior, because he never stops fighting for what he believes in. And that doesn't mean he can't take care of his clan in another way (which would also be nice, since he's grown very weak after... The poison accident.)

  • My nearly-last words will be... I'm as good with this site as Windclan is with fishing. I beg for f o r g i v e n e s s if your eyes give in.

  • Oh, one last thing. If you haven't clicked on the black cat ... Well, too bad. I suggest you go back and challenge it. Now GO!
